On Being Boring

I moved from London to Brussels with my husband nearly 10 years ago. When I told people we were moving, the news was greeted with bemusement: why did we want to move to a city that was possibly the most boring place on earth? Ten years later and I can honestly say that I've had more fun here than I ever did living in London. It might not be the most exciting city in the world but it is a fantastic place to live. It is full of hidden treasures that you probably never get to see as a tourist: wonderful shops, amazing food, great museums and galleries, beautiful architecture, a forest (yes, a whole forest), and so much more... And if that doesn't convince you, well, get on a train and you could be in Paris, Amsterdam, Cologne or, yes, London in no more than a couple of hours... Which other city can you say that about?

A warning and a question

On the last day of August, we went to the Botanical Gardens in Meise (again – yes, I love that place). Summer was just beginning to turn to autumn. The air was warm but fresh and everything looked deliciously beautiful. I took 200 pictures and I intend to post at least 50 of them so you can share my delight in the turn of the seasons. And then we went back there this past weekend and I took my camera again. I nearly didn’t but then I did. So there will be even more in due course. So that’s your warning. And my question is below. If you, like me, dibble or dabble in photography, I’d love if you could reply. Thank you!

So here’s the question. I feel rather silly because the premise for my question is a bit presumptuous so please humor me. The above pictures were edited in Lightroom only. Pretty much all my pictures are these days unless I need to edit out some random rubbish. Over the last year or so, I’ve developed a small collection of presets that I use over and over again. I’ve also acquired a few (Rebecca Lily’s Pro Presets that are awesome and the Rad Lab Replichrome presets too) but I never end up using them because they’re never really quite right for my pictures. So I have my own. And they work over and over again. I do kind of love them and I wonder if others would too (or if maybe they only really work with my pictures). Have a look through my recent posts: what do you think? Do you like my processing? If I made my presets available (i.e. if I can figure out how to), would anyone be interested in buying them? I would obviously not be pricing myself at the Rad Lab or pro level. But I have 25 odd presets that I could make available for 25 USD. Would that be a bargain or a bloody nerve? Please share your thoughts and I’ll then decide if I want to launch myself into the unknown. Thank you!

Edit: if I do make these available, I’ll figure out a discount for the first 10 respondents below. You have nothing to lose! If no-one responds though, I’ll look terribly silly.

I've never used Lightroom. Photoshop is so easy...is Lightroom better? Easier? Happier? I'd be willing to try it if my pictures could look as sincere and gorgeous as the Cass D. collection.
