On Being Boring

I moved from London to Brussels with my husband nearly 10 years ago. When I told people we were moving, the news was greeted with bemusement: why did we want to move to a city that was possibly the most boring place on earth? Ten years later and I can honestly say that I've had more fun here than I ever did living in London. It might not be the most exciting city in the world but it is a fantastic place to live. It is full of hidden treasures that you probably never get to see as a tourist: wonderful shops, amazing food, great museums and galleries, beautiful architecture, a forest (yes, a whole forest), and so much more... And if that doesn't convince you, well, get on a train and you could be in Paris, Amsterdam, Cologne or, yes, London in no more than a couple of hours... Which other city can you say that about?

101 Pictures of Grass

Ok maybe not 101. But nearly. 101 pictures of grass and two pictures of Charlie disappearing into a hole in a hedge that I love (the pictures – not the hedge). All taken at the end of our third day in France. I spent nearly an hour crouching and lying in the garden, being bitten my heaven only knows what, to try to capture even a smidge of how beautiful the setting sun was that evening. These are all edited in Lightroom only because I just . could . not . be . bothered to export them all to Photoshop. My computer is so so slow it’s painful. I’ve had it for four years and apparently that’s long enough for all the whizz-bang bits inside to be out of date. Maybe I’ll treat myself for Christmas. That’s what I said last year too though so… We’ll see… In the meantime: grass. Enjoy!

14 September 2013 - 12:30 AM Zara - These are all divine, Cass! All 101 of them ;) the light is just so brilliant. You have mastered the vsco look, for sure.

15 September 2013 - 6:29 PM Cass - Haha! Funny you should say that Zara... I lust after the vsco presets but don't want to spend so much money on them. I did just shell out for the replichrome ones from totally rad but none of those were quite right for these pictures either. So these are all just me trying to emulate film in my own way :)

15 September 2013 - 2:35 PM ralph - Divine really is the only word. Pure magic, sweet Cass. Worth every bug bight to catch that amazing glow... And love the kids disappearing into the hedge, like a magical kid's storybook.

24 September 2013 - 11:42 AM Renate - These are gorgeous Cass! Spent some time lying around in the grass myself trying to capture my girl in the park. I didn't end up with such pretty pictures though. I did end up with poo on my favorite leather jacket. Can't have it all.
